10 Times WWE Creative Changed A Match On The Fly
4. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair At Hell In A Cell 2016
Before the two would main event WrestleMania 35 and 37, respectively, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks made history by becoming the first women to main event a WWE main roster PPV and the first women to compete inside Hell in a Cell at the titular event in 2016.
The two superstars tried hard to get the best out of each other, and Flair emerged victorious to win the title for the third time in her career. However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the original plan was to have Banks retain the title, but went through a last-minute change when Vince McMahon changed his mind the day before the show.
The report also stated that only those close to McMahon knew about the altered finish. Top officials had told everyone else a different finish during the Saturday night production meeting and revealed the actual plans only on the day of the show.
Ric Flair appeared on Busted Open Radio following the event and revealed WWE also took out two spots from the match, fearing Sasha Banks might get injured, and one of them involved a moonsault.
