10 Times WWE Creative Ruined A Wrestler's Gimmick

7. Emma

We love when the NXT women get called up to the main roster, but we're also terrified by what could happen. That's because down in NXT, females are accorded the same respect as men — Bayley and Sasha Banks will be main eventing the next NXT Takeover.

Meanwhile on Raw, female wrestlers (or Divas, as the WWE condescendingly calls them) fight for screen time. Though a little better now — the Divas Revolution angle is an excellent start — but the booking could still use some polish and forethought.

Emma is a cautionary tale for what not to do with an NXT wrestler. Once WWE Creative brought her up to Raw, they decided to pair the sunny superstar with Santino Marella. She was a 2-bit comedy jobber in no time (she even did Santino's ridiculous waddle to the ring), and several months later, the WWE sent Emma back to NXT to rework her entire gimmick.

She's currently polishing a heel persona, and hopefully her second call-up to Raw goes better than the first one.
