10 Times WWE Did Exactly What The Wrestlers DIDN'T Want

7. The Nexus Defeat - SummerSlam 2010

The horrible mismanagement of the original Nexus remains one of the most criminally botched pushes in recent memory. Wade Barrett and his band of outlaws had torn through the roster and kicked up a storm of chaos and terror (maybe watch a few tapes eh Mustafa?). Unfortunately, as ever WWE sacrificed their promising up and comers in favor of the tried and tested.

At SummerSlam 2010, in what should have been their crowning moment, the Nexus simply lost to Big Match John and his random team of friends and enemies. Worst still, this was in fact done against the wishes of two of the biggest names involved.

Chris Jericho and Edge, both of whom were part of Cena’s group in the 7 on 7 main event, were convinced the Nexus should go over. And really, it’s hard to argue against Y2J and the Rated R Superstar here. It was not to be though. Cena disagreed and of course Vince was willing to side with his colorful cash cow.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
