10 Times WWE Didn't Realise Greatness Was Staring Them In The Face

WWE rightly receives praise for its stacked women’s division across its three brands. They have loads of talent and the women are presented brilliantly compared to the dark days of the Divas.

That said, things aren’t perfect. Creative struggle to find compelling stories for women outside of the immediate title picture. It’s still harder than it ought to be for anyone who isn’t a Horsewoman to make an impact.

Going nowhere as part of Fire and Desire, Sonya Deville alerted fans that she had more to offer with a blistering promo on WWE Backstage. She put the entire women’s roster on notice and had fans begging for her to be pushed.

Her feud with Mandy Rose won plaudits but it’s still hard to shake the suspicion it was her proximity to the blossoming Mandy and Otis romance that snagged her the screen time. Still, 'The Jersey Devil' grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Sadly, real world events have derailed things for Deville, just as her career seemed to be heating up. Hopefully she has brighter days ahead but whatever comes next, at least her talent saw some recognition before her abrupt departure.
