10 Times WWE Didn't Realise Greatness Was Staring Them In The Face
6. Sasha Banks And Bayley
Few classics feuds have seemed so inevitable as Bayley versus Sasha Banks. Not least because the feud already happened in NXT back when it was still WWE’s Network based developmental brand.
They had two great workers, both already beloved characters, as well as an established dynamic to play off. All WWE needed to do was to run the feud back on the main roster.
Instead the pair were allowed to drift for a couple of years of bad creative and stop start pushes. Women’s revolution or not, WWE still had limited time for the women’s half of its roster. While creative focused on “The Man” Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, Banks and Bayley were left to languish through therapy skits and aborted romance teases.
Bayley in particular was that rarest of things in the modern era, a working white meat babyface. However WWE so ruined this supposed career babyface that the former “Hugger” had to turn heel to revive her flagging fortunes.
Bayley and “The Boss”are currently starring in WWE’s best slow burn feud in recent memory but they really should have been here years ago.
