Ryback spent several months on the shelf in mid-2014 to undergo hernia surgery, and as such there wasn't a more fitting time for him to revert back to his "Feed Me More" roots than upon his return. He made his anticipated comeback to WWE TV that October, squashing Bo Dallas and teasing a face turn in the process.

Leading up to Survivor Series, both Team Cena and The Authority were scouting Ryback as a potential member of their respective teams. As a result, he was one of the biggest focal points of WWE programming at the time, and his face-to-face confrontation with Triple H on the Raw before the pay-per-view seemingly planted the seeds for a future feud between them.

As it turned out, it was nothing more than a red herring. Ryback was the first man eliminated from Team Cena that Sunday at Survivor Series, leaving fans to question why he was so prominently featured in the first place. Once The Authority came back into power two months later, they wasted no time in firing Ryback from the roster, along with the rest of Team Cena.

Ryback was just catching steam again and his absence from programming put an abrupt halt to his building momentum. Furthermore, his loss to Seth Rollins, Big Show, and Kane at WWE Fastlane made him look like a total afterthought.
