10 Times WWE Failed To Create Main Event Players

Making an ass out of the 'Ass Man' and other short (horror) stories...

Every wrestling fan has heard the same old phrases by now.

Superstar wannabes on the lower card must "reach out and grab that brass ring" or "break through the glass ceiling" if they want main event riches. This is a delicate procedure. Wrestlers can be as talented as they come, but there are still no concrete guarantees that they'll be able to transition smoothly from midcard solidity to main event glory for longer than a match or two.

Sometimes, WWE's probing outright fails to create headline attractions, and the reasons are as varied as the cast of characters featured here. A handful were ridiculously skilled workers, but just couldn't shatter the glass or grab some mythical bullsh*t ring due to all the obstacles in their way. After trying, they returned to their midcard berths or were repackaged for another go later.

Three of the 10 did go on to become World Champs without really sustaining the top tier momentum they should've. Don't be fooled into thinking this is all on creative either, because it's not. Don't worry though, they don't get off scot-free...
