"Christian! Christian! At last you're on your own!".

Those opening lyrics to the ex-tag supremo's singles entrance theme were true for more reasons than just Christian breaking away from long-term associate Edge. He really was on his own, and that included separation from WWE's creative dept. They, guided by Vince McMahon, didn't see the Canadian as a big money player.

Bruce Prichard has been very open about this on his podcast over the past three years. According to him, everyone else in creative thought Christian could easily slot into one of the top positions on the card, challenge for World Title regularly and become a star. McMahon thought otherwise, partly 'cause he thought Christian was "ugly".

Rather than capitalising on his new 'Peep Show' talking segment, recognising that he was getting mega responses from crowds and harnessing the man's talents, WWE p*ssed Christian up against a wall. By late-2005, he was so frustrated that he engineered his WWE release and fled to TNA.
