10 Times WWE Got "The Guy" Wrong

Nobody can deny that Jeff Hardy was eliciting the sort of crowd response you would associate with 'The Guy', but it was arguably a mistake to put him in the role of leading baby-face in 2008 and 2009, given how close he was to the end of his contract.

Instead of erecting one of the WWE building blocks for the next decade, they ended up inadvertently putting eyes on TNA when he jumped ship at the beginning of 2010 (and on the eve of the hugely competitive Monday Night War II, as well).

Of course, it would have been foolish not to capitalise on Hardy's unrivaled popularity at the time. However, in hindsight, his spot at the top of the SmackDown card may have been better given to someone more likely to stick around for the long haul.
