10 Times WWE Got Babyfaces Wrong

10. The Miz

His smug expressions, cocky promo delivery and endlessly slappable face all make The Miz a heel blueprint, but that hasn't stopped WWE from trying to turn him babyface several times. The worst example came in 2012 when he buddied up with new mentor Ric Flair and learned how to become a 'Nature Boy'.

Nobody bought it.

Miz was somehow less likeable as a supposed baby than he had been as an arrogant heel. It didn't help that Flair, who'd been so good at playing villain that fans who'd grown up in with him in the NWA/WCW eventually turned him face, was rehashing something he'd tried with AJ Styles in TNA.

By the time Ric bestowed his 'Figure Four' submission onto his new charge, fans had seen enough. They refused to accept that Miz was the "new" Ric Flair and rejected the babyface turn outright. WWE didn't try again for years.
