What The Main Event Should Have Been: Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage.

At WrestleMania V, Hulk Hogan ended Randy Savage’s year long title reign. Savage wanted his revenge, so he somehow built a magical teleporter and removed Zeus from the movie No Holds Barred and brought him into reality so he could tag with him at SummerSlam. A genius plan.

However, there were two massive problems with this match. The first is that Zeus was one of the worst wrestlers to ever step foot in a WWE ring. The second was that Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake was nowhere near a main event act, and only received the spot because he was one of The Hulkster’s favorite cronies. They were needless additions.

A better alternative would have been a rematch of the Mania V main event, but with an added stipulation. Hogan and Savage settling their feud in a cage would have been far better from an in-ring standpoint, and left the weaker tag partners off the show. Ideally, Savage would have won the belt so he could have got his heat back, but anything that would have kept Zeus out of action would have been best for everyone involved.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
