What The Main Event Should Have Been: Seth Rollins vs. John Cena.

The Undertaker was out for revenge. He wanted to badly hurt the man who took away his legendary WrestleMania streak. Did he get what he was seeking at SummerSlam? Well...kind of.

In theory having Brock and Taker close out the night wasn’t a terrible idea. Some matches you just can’t follow, and it makes everything else on the show lose all its steam, like Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania. Lesnar vs. Undertaker would have been very easy to top. The obvious flaw of the match was the downer of an ending. Brock lost because of a timekeeper. When does that ever happen? Taker then had to deliver a low blow to win, which basically made him a heel, leaving us with unanswered questions.

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins also gave us a screwy finish, but not as awful as the main event’s was. With both the US Title and WWE Title on the line, it had a strong built-in reason to go on after Taker and Lesnar. After a great, definitive ending with Lesnar vs. Cena the year before at SummerSlam, WWE gave us a poor follow-up that ended the night on a bad note.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
