10 Times WWE Got Their Own BAD Ideas WRONG

9. Chyna & Y2J Are “Co-Champions”

WWE has tried on the co-champions gimmick a bunch over the decades, but few examples remain more egregious than Chyna and Chris Jericho holding the Intercontinental Title together. Both worked a double pin on the 30 December 1999 edition of SmackDown, and feigned shock at being announced as co-champs on the following Raw.

This was a wonky way to gift Jericho his first title reign in the WWF, but things only got worse heading into the new millennium. Creative's co-champion idea lasted less than a month; the company ended their experiment at the Royal Rumble by booking Jericho to win a three-way that also involved Hardcore Holly.

So much for that.

The whole thing was an opportunity missed, and turned out to be a completely rudderless exercise that barely scratched the surface on these twin champs coexisting. It feels like the writers got every step of this story wrong. It didn't help 'Y2J', it didn't help Chyna, and Holly's involvement was too random to matter.
