In 2018, WWE let money do the talking, and very nearly spoiled one of their most cherished traditions in the process. Saudi Arabian royalty footed the bill for a first ever pay-per-view in the country, and they demanded something massive. So, Vince McMahon decided to give them the "Greatest" Royal Rumble.

There's a reason for those inverted commas!

The main attraction was an interminable 50-man Rumble that promised to be the "Greatest" one in WWE history. Spoiler alert: It bloody wasn't. Braun Strowman won the thing, but the match is perhaps only slightly memorable for Daniel Bryan going a whopping 1 hour and 16 minutes in the match.

That was wasted effort, and the belt Braun got was wasted craftsmanship. It was never really seen again, and may even have been left over in Saudi as a token gesture. WWE risked insulting fans and the legacy of their actual Royal Rumble with this move.

Oops.
