10 Times WWE Got Their Own BAD Ideas WRONG

2. The “Wild Card Rule”

On the 6 May 2019 edition of Raw, Vince McMahon struggled to convince everyone that his new "Wild Card Rule" was worth their time. According to McMahon, up to three wrestlers from Raw would be able to appear on SmackDown every week, and vice versa. This was part of an extended "Superstar Shake-Up" (Draft style).

It sucked and WWE didn't stick to it. Simple as that.

Things got confusing immediately when Vince suddenly extended the available loophole jumps from three to four (without explaining why). Then, as if that wasn't laughable enough, the commentators expanded the number to seven, back to three, back to four and then just forgot about the whole thing.

2019 was a thoroughly dire year for company creative, but the "Wild Card" mess stuck out. Fans didn't pop for McMahon's hype during the announcement, and WWE found out once again than people don't really care for all this brand warfare stuff anyway.
