10 Times WWE Hit The Mainstream In 2014

10. Sting Arrives In WWE

When WWE purchased WCW and folded it into their own operations, there were a number of big name stars who were notably absent. Wrestlers like Goldberg and Hulk Hogan had contracts with Time Warner, rather than WCW, so it was easier for them to sit at home and collect a paycheck until those contracts ran out. When Sting became a free agent, he stayed away from wrestling for a couple of years before eventually joining Total Nonstop Action. He was with TNA for over ten years, and after a while fans came to accept that Sting was never going to show up in a WWE ring. That all changed last year when during WWE€™s annual panel at San Diego Comic Con International, he made a surprise appearance to coincide with the announcement of his first Mattel action figure. He was later announced as a pre-order exclusive for the WWE 2K15 video game, and speculation heated up about just when he€™d appear on WWE television. Fast-forward to Survivor Series in November, when after rumours of his appearance had swirled all weekend he made his grand debut to help Dolph Ziggler and Team Cena defeat and depose The Authority. Now the speculation has moved onto when and if Sting will compete at WrestleMania, and if so, against whom?
