At the start of the year, if you told someone that the most popular film of 2014 was going to feature a talking tree and gun-toting raccoon in space, they would have called you crazy. If you then told them it would star Andy from Parks & Recreation and feature a breakout performance from Batista, theyd probably have you locked up. Thats the world we live in now, as Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy made $772.7 million at the box office and the sequel is scheduled for 2017. As great as the film was, and as surprising as its success was to many, the most mindblowing aspect was just how good Batista is in it. Batista plays the role of Drax The Destroyer, an alien out for revenge against Thanos who murdered his wife and child. His deadpan delivery of Draxs lines are some of the funniest moments of the films, and he gives a raw, emotionally honest performance when most expected him to just be there to look big and stab people. Hollywood has taken note of Batista now and hes one of the most in-demand stars of 2015. Hes now lined up some huge projects to keep him busy over the next few years including a remake of Kickboxer, Bus 657 with Robert De Niro and the new James Bond film SPECTRE, as the villainous henchman, Mr. Hinx.
