10 Times WWE Hit The Mainstream In 2014

3. The Death Of The Ultimate Warrior

The relationship between WWE and the Ultimate Warrior has been rocky at best for the past two decades. WWE were famously sued over the rights to the Warrior name, which resulted in Jim Hellwig changing his name to €œWarrior€ and WWE€™s The Self Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior DVD seemed to burn the bridge between them for good. When Ultimate Warrior was announced for WWE 2K14, it gave fans hope that a resolution could be reached between the two sides. Then a few months later, Ultimate Warrior was announced as the first ballot inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. What followed was one of the most bizarre weeks in wrestling, as Warrior was inducted into the Hall of Fame on the Saturday, and appeared at WrestleMania on the Sunday. He then returned to Raw for the first time in nearly twenty years on the Monday, but unfortunately on the Tuesday he passed away from a heart attack. The outpouring of emotion was incredible, as fans had just got used to having Warrior back in their lives and just like that he was gone again. WWE paid tribute to the man the next week on Raw with a touching moment of silence in which many of the superstars were seen completely devastated by the man who helped take wrestling into the mainstream.
