10 Times WWE Mocked What Fans Hated
5. Emmalina
In May 2016, Emma disappeared from WWE TV after being injured until the fall. Leading up to her return, WWE aired vignettes called 'The Makeover of Emma to Emmalina,' in which the superstar ditched her old attire for something more diva-like.
WWE continued with the video packages into 2017, promising Emmalina would debut the next week, every week, for months. Long before her return, though, the gimmick started being considered an "inside joke." According to Emma herself, there didn't seem to be a direction for the makeover outside of WWE wanting to present her as a model, for which she admitted she wasn't the best champion.
As fans started to realize there might have been something awry with the debut, WWE decided to poke fun at the gimmick the exact same night fans finally saw the result of Emma's lengthy transformation. Rather than make a big splash on the women's roster, Emmalina arrived on a February 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw to declare she was going back to being Emma. That was it. Fans got to see what WWE tried to build up to, and then creative threw it away. Sadly, while Emma might have been happy to ditch the new character, she never again received such special treatment from creative.
