10 Times WWE Mocked What We Really Wanted

3. The Big Show Co-Opts The Yes! Chant

Demon Vince McMahon
WWE

This is it.

There is no starker illustration of what WWE actually is than this.

Daniel Bryan couldn't possibly be over. Doesn't matter that he was a technical maestro capable of playing it broad as a firebrand who whipped crowds into delirium with his frenzied comebacks. Doesn't matter that he was immensely likeable. Doesn't matter that he was witty, charismatic, impossible not to get behind.

He was pale, short, and had a scraggly beard. If you built a normal bloke from the ground up, he'd look like Daniel Bryan. Except he's an absolute piece who married Brie Bella, but where's the tan? Where's the height? Where's the f*cking beef, pal?

"Give the stupid chant to Big Show. He's big."

This was Vince McMahon's thought process in late 2013.

With a violent assault on your intelligence, he thought he could simply turn Big Show into your cult hero - a better fit for a PPV poster - because he was enormous.

It was impossible for many fans to invest in anybody after that. The surface level of thought, arrogance and preconceived bias was just parody.

"Am I so out of touch?"

"No. It's literally every fan in every arena who is wrong."

The worst thing about that joke is that is Vince would never have had the moment of introspection.
