The very name of this Pay-Per-View directly fit into what was happening in the real world. As calendars raced towards the turn of the millennium, there were very real worries that the world might end. It's startling to imagine now, but there was a lot of fear over the idea that computer systems would crash and the modern world would change forever. 'Armageddon' was a pretty topical choice of event title. As it turned out, the only thing pro wrestling fans would have to worry about was that The Undertaker didn't appear. The PPV poster featured the infamous character alone, surely signalling that he would play a major role in the show. In late-1999, 'Taker wasn't even on the active roster, and had been out nursing injuries since September. On the show, Triple H fought Vince McMahon in an epic main event. The Undertaker was nowhere to be found, and wouldn't be seen again until May, 2000. The poster clearly shows Undertaker in his 'Ministry Of Darkness' days, so it's confusing why this wasn't changed. The company obviously had plans to feature him on the event before his injuries, but they had months to change the promotional materials.
