10 Times WWE Punished Success

9. Fandango

Certain gimmicks come with an expected shelf life, and Fandango's dancing fool persona was one of those predicted to burn out quickly. It was a quick fix for former NXT man Johnny Curtis, and it'd end up being an albatross around his neck more than a pat on the back. He's absolutely not to blame for that.

Success is.

It's like WWE panicked when Fandango, fresh off a win over Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29, suddenly became the post-'Mania Raw's hot topic. Fans belted out his catchy theme tune for the entire duration of the show, often interrupting matches and other segments to sing, "Dooo-do! Do do do-do dooo, do-do-do!" all night.

That wasn't in company plans, and neither was some surprise chart success for the song over in the UK. Almost embarrassed by their 'Dancing With The Stars' wannabe and how he had become an unlikely babyface sensation, WWE creative pulled the plug and dropped Fandango's push.
