10 Times WWE Punished Success
4. Damien Sandow
The hilarious 'Twice In A Lifetime' branding could describe Damien Sandow's career better than any John Cena vs. The Rock rematch. WWE pulled the rug on him twice, and it was totally avoidable both times. The first occasion came when Sandow won Money In The Bank in 2013 and then dropped his leather-bound briefcase and the guaranteed title run that came with it like a klutz.
If that was a stubbed toe, then the next failure must've been a lopped off arm.
Rescuing his career from the brink of irrelevance, Sandow got himself over as The Miz's stunt double. He even carried around a mini version of the Intercontinental Title and willingly played the class clown for fans who lapped up his silliness. The story needed progression from there, and it didn't get any.
Sandow, who was blatantly more over than his on/off tag partner, was promptly returned to lower card hell when WWE didn't fancy a prolonged feud between star and stunt double. They chucked the whole idea down the drain by booking both into the Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31 before swiftly moving on.
