6. John Cena Must Leave WWE Forever... Then Shows Up Every Week
This is one of the most blatant cases of false advertising in wrestling. In 2010 John Cena was feuding against the supposedly unstoppable heel stable known as the Nexus. After being forced to join the group, Cena wanted out and leader Wade Barrett offered Cena a match for his freedom. If Cena lost however he would have to leave WWE forever. Well at Survivor Series (yet again!) Cena lost and supposedly left WWE the next night after an overlong retirement ceremony where he thanked the fans and promised to hug his mother when he got home. Aww! Anyway Cena arrived on Raw the very next week to take out individual Nexus members one by one, including Husky Harris who is currently tormenting Cena as Bray Wyatt. He was back the next week, and the week after that, usually striking backstage or entering through the crowd. WWE security sure dropped the ball during those episodes. This all culminated with the Nexus members demanding that Barrett let Cena return to the WWE roster (yes apparently Barrett could overrule Vinnie Mac on this occasion) and low and behold Cena was reinstated after retiring and missing exactly zero episodes of Raw. Would you believe WWE never even bothered editing Cena out of the Raw intro while he was "retired". That has to be the worst fake retirement since ...
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
