10 Times WWE Ruined Kane

9. The Kane-Anites Promo

It could be argued that Kane excels when he does comedy in WWE. His Team Hell No alliance with Daniel Bryan is evidence of that. As good as that was, however, sometimes the laughs have been misplaced. That was certainly the case on the March 28, 2002 edition of SmackDown.

Set to team with Hollywood Hogan and The Rock on that evening's show, Kane interrupted a backstage conversation between both men. Crucially, Hogan and Rocky had been conversing about how menacing Kane was, putting the character over as one of the most intimidating in the entire promotion. That's when things turned sour.

Showing face, Kane cut a comedic promo that mimicked both of his partners. Along the way, he even said that Hogan had Hulkamaniacs, The Rock had his millions of fans, but Kane had his 'Kane-Anites'. Whilst entertaining, it was another throwaway moment that undermined the threat of the masked man.

Months later, the then-WWF would try to sell the threat Kane posed to World Heavyweight Champion Triple H at No Mercy. That was hard to do when he was played for laughs earlier on.
