10 Times WWE Stars Broke Kayfabe With REAL Emotions

2012 offered a glimmer of hope to the oft-neglected Divas division. While countless women in WWE were used as eye candy with little wrestling experience at all, certain stars were starting to emerge as good workers through the bra & panties matches that were par for the course, like Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, AJ Lee, Natalya, etc.

Another one of those stars was Kaitlyn, who'd built up a great repertoire throughout her tenure feuding against AJ Lee before retiring in 2014. She also spent much of 2012 feuding with Eve Torres and LayCool, who'd been flip-flopping the Diva's Championship between each other. At one point this led to a battle royal to determine a new number one contender for the gaudy butterfly belt, then held by Layla.

Kaitlyn won the match, last eliminating Eve in somewhat underwhelming fashion. Layla was shocked, Eve was annoyed, Kaitlyn looked in equal measure perplexed and panicked at the outcome, which is not usually the correct response to winning a title shot.

That's because she wasn't supposed to win the match, and, according to a 2020 interview, she was terrified that she'd be fired.

Vince McMahon however was apparently laughing at the gaffe, and told her to take the opportunity that she'd be given.
