10 Times WWE Stars Made A Mockery Of Their Own Angles

4. Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels Hulk Hogan Parody

Punch something like, 'WWE overselling' into Google and you'll likely stumble across the antics of Shawn Michaels at SummerSlam 2005 sooner rather than later. That pay-per-view memorably featured the first major showdown between HBK and Hulk Hogan, but it became better-known for Shawn's trolling.

Michaels was not playing ball with the 'Hulkster' in Washington.

Before the show, he roasted Hogan's mannerisms in several funny vignettes. Come SummerSlam, Shawn decided to go rogue and make a statement by selling like he'd been blasted with a cannonball whenever Hulk hit him with punches or a trademark big boot. It was a stunning show of defiance.

Michaels totally ridiculed Hogan's familiar routines and deliberately hijacked their main event. Somehow, it was still entertaining (Shawn always is), but such histrionics turned the huge headliner into a parody WWE didn't want.
