10 Times WWE Stars Were Scapegoats For Bad Booking
6. Charlotte Flair
A more recent example, this, as it is currently ongoing.
Much like her father before her, Charlotte Flair is an excellent in-ring competitor who is adept at making people absolutely despise her. While she's not quite Ric Flair on the microphone, she has her own way of coming off as arrogant and boastful in promos, and it works every time. Hypothetically speaking, modern fans would usually cheer for someone like Charlotte because she's so damn good at her job, but they don't.
Because there's just too f***ing much of her.
Charlotte seems to appear on every WWE program nowadays, and she's rarely seen without championship gold around her waist. Not only that, but she rarely ever loses, which presents a problem when fans were hoping to see somebody else win. They were furious with her after she ended Asuka's undefeated streak at WrestleMania 34, they were upset when she eliminated main roster newcomer Shayna Baszler to win the 2020 Royal Rumble, they were mad at her for beating hot upstart Rhea Ripley at 'Mania 36, and so on.
What's baffling about all of this, though, is that not only do many fans feel that she's being "shoved down our throats," but they will even undersell her abilities as a result. And that's just not right.
Yes, Charlotte is a bit overexposed, but that doesn't mean that she's "burying" anybody and it certainly doesn't mean that she's "not even that good". She's just somebody that WWE sees as a star, and she can't be blamed for accepting the opportunity to shine.
