10 Times WWE Stars Were Struck By The Intercontinental Title Curse
7. Bad News Barrett (2014)
Poor Wade Barrett. Not only has he been saddled with one of the worst gimmicks in recent memory, 'King' Barrett, but he's also had his fair share of injury problems. One of the most recent came when he was receiving some good reactions from the core fan base for his 'Bad News' Barrett shtick. In the middle of his 4th reign as Intercontinental Champion, things went sour for the Englishman. Winning the title from Big E Langston at Extreme Rules in May, 2014, Barrett looked set to have a lengthy run with the strap. WWE were working hard to get behind his new character, but things unfortunately wouldn't last. Only winning the belt on May 4th, Barrett was forced to vacate it on June 30th, due to a nasty shoulder injury suffered during a match against Jack Swagger. This was a major setback for the man, who has never really recovered properly since. What should have been a career-making run with the Intercontinental Title turned into a nightmare for the guy. 'King' Barrett is more often than not a waste of air time in WWE now, but 'Bad News' Barrett had something to offer. Sadly, the curse struck the Lancashire native.
