10 Times WWE Stupidity Sabotaged Storylines

4. Vince McMahon Fights "God"

What Happened: After toying with Shawn Michaels for months and telling him he could screw him like he had Bret Hart, Vince McMahon lost a 'No Holds Barred' epic to HBK at WrestleMania 22. Not content to stop the story there, WWE continued it into Backlash and booked Vince and Shane McMahon in a tag match against Michaels and "God".

That is not a joke.

Why It Was Stupid: Far be it for this humble writer to tell WWE creative about follow-up storytelling, but maybe penning an extra chapter to the McMahon vs. Michaels feud that insulted the entire religious community wasn't the best idea. What's more, it was 100% needless. Vince and Shawn had enough juice (blood included) to keep their rivalry ticking along.

They could've slid in some mention of Shawn's newfound Christianity without being so overt too. The Backlash stunt, during which a spotlight made a full entrance on WWE pay-per-view, was painfully poor, demolished the angle's credibility and left most wondering why they'd shelled out cash for the show.
