7. Champion Vs Champion

When The Ultimate Warrior stood tall at the climax of WrestleMania VI with both the Heavyweight and Intercontinental Title belts held aloft, only the great unknown awaited.

Warrior himself was required to prove himself a suitable replacement for Hulk Hogan in 1990, but there had been no precedent set for how to deal with a double Champion. Ultimately, they took the decision not to bother at all.

Warrior was super-over with the secondary strap but surrendered it back to the company as the newly-minted topline star. The stakes remained high in similar matches despite this - as evidenced 25 years later when Seth Rollins captured John Cena's United States Championship at SummerSlam 2015.

'The Architect' benefitted from John Stewart's want to keep 'The Champ' from breaking Ric Flair's iconic title reign in a bizarre conclusion, but wasn't permitted all that long as a double champion. Forced to defend both belts a month later (despite being in the pocket of The Authority), Seth lost the secondary strap straight back, despite managing to cling onto his prized possession against Sting.
