10 Times WWE Swerved The Fans Just For The Sake Of It

1. Eric Bischoff Is Raw's General Manager

After Vince McMahon defeated Ric Flair for sole ownership of WWE in 2002, that gave the chairman control of both the Raw and SmackDown brands. Rather than appear on both shows, he decided that he'd appoint a general manager for each brand.

Raw's GM, in quite the shocker, was former WCW President Eric Bischoff, who at one point was a very real enemy of Vince McMahon's. The two men proudly embraced on Raw, giving a photo op that nobody would have expected.

Unfortunately, for the sake of a one-time shock, the company potentially threw away millions of dollars. Yes, the initial invasion storyline was a flop, but with Eric Bischoff coming in to WWE, there's no reason why it couldn't have been resurrected and maybe done right. The figurehead of WCW could have led an army of his former employees against their new boss - or, even if they wanted to move it in a new direction, a McMahon-Bischoff feud could have drawn money.

Instead, fans were pretty surprised on an episode of Raw, and Vince McMahon once again reminded everyone that WCW was dead because of him.
