10 Times WWE Took Away The ONE Thing That Got Wrestlers Over

2. Braun Strowman

All they had to do was keep it simple.

Braun Strowman stood in-ring before WrestleMania 37 and revealed that he'd been bullied for the way he looked. Huh? The way Braun looks is exactly why he wouldn't be picked on. This last-ditch attempt to humanise WWE's wrecking ball monster was bloody awful, and it wasn't even the first time they'd tried it.

In 2018, Braun tried comedy on for size by introducing the world to "Brains Strowman". Instead of getting laughs, Strowman got comparison like, 'worst Dudley Boy ever'. It sucked, and it was a gross misuse of somebody who'd earned his stripes by chucking wrestlers around like bags of shopping and tipping over trucks.

Believability as a one-man destruction crew was all Braun had to shout about, but WWE wanted to tame the 'Monster Among Men' and make him sympathetic. Brainy? Bullied? Get that right to f*ck! No wonder he dipped dramatically after that killer Roman Reigns rivalry in 2017 - WWE forgot how to use Strowman.
