An entirely bizarre set of evenings for more than a few reasons, the Performance Center Show of Shows, a.k.a. WrestleMania 36, did at least come equipped with enough fun to give audiences a much-needed escape from the horrors outside their door at the time.

However, it did still come with a few painful reminders that not even a global pandemic could convince Vince McMahon to give his locked down fans watching at home everything they clearly wanted on the Grandest Stage.

Heading into that year's Showcase of the Immortals, NXT sensations Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley looked set to be given a set of crowd-pleasing 'Mania moments, with the stars of tomorrow seemingly being positioned to take down a Horsewoman each.

But giving the future of the company two career-boosting victories over Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, respectively, was clearly the last thing on Vinnie Mac's mind when taping the two-night crowd-less event. The black and gold darlings were instead both conquered inside of the squared-circle, with both NXT figures having their momentum well and truly derailed in the process.

Ripley at least eventually found a way to bounce back from this foolish set of booking decisions, whereas a once-dominant Baszler is still yet to fully recover from being bested by yet another roll-up from The Man at 'Mania.
