10 Times WWE Treated Home Town Talent Like Garbage
6. Sasha Banks & Charlotte - Part One
This next entry is a two parter, as both wrestlers fell victim to WWE's tendency to undermine home town talent.
Sasha Banks and Charlotte's 2016 feud was a mess. The pair swapped the RAW women's title six times in as many months, devaluing both the belt and each wrestler's credibility as champions. Each shock title change felt like something Vince Russo would book (never a good sign), and that feeling was at its most intense when the pair battled in their respective hometowns.
Sasha and Charlotte made history by becoming the first female wrestlers to main event a PPV at Hell in the Cell, but WWE did their best to spoil the moment with some terrible booking. Boston's home town hero Sasha Banks was ambushed at the start and put on a stretcher, teasing the cancellation of a match the crowd were white hot for. This sucked the atmosphere out of the arena, and despite the women putting on a good match, the energy left the building completely when Charlotte pinned Sasha to mark yet another failed defence for the Boss.
However, WWE Creative had yet another swerve in store...
