10 Times WWE Treated Home Town Talent Like Garbage
5. Sasha Banks & Charlotte - Part Two
Another title match, another hometown loss, another exchange of the belt. This time, Charlotte did the honours for Sasha in a falls count anywhere match on RAW. While Charlotte also had to undergo the indignity of losing in her home town (Charlotte, Carolina), her loss paled in comparison to Sasha's because
a) Charlotte was the heel in the feud, meaning most of the crowd wanted Sasha to win anyway.
b) It happened on an episode of RAW, not a genuinely historic PPV.
c) Charlotte would go on to decisively win the feud.
The last point is the one that sticks in the throat. By firmly ending the feud in Charlotte's favour, WWE rendered Sasha's loss in Boston irredeemable - there was to be no gallant comeback from the babyface, no eventual triumph of good over evil. Instead, the bad guy walked away the undisputed victor, leaving yet another babyface to stew in her own impotence.
WWE have been criticized loudly and repeatedly over the past few years over their failure to build stars, and this feud was the perfect example of why that is. No-one wants to cheer the bad guy but they can't rally behind a loser, either, and babyfaces in the WWE have been losers for a long time.
