10 Times WWE Tried The Same Failure TWICE

9. A School Teacher Gimmick

The logic behind turning Shane Douglas into a hoity-toity professor called 'Dean' was simple: Douglas would get on everyone's t*ts for reminding them of school when they were watching wrestling, and he'd get nuclear heat without doing much other than playing the smug git who used words like 'vivify' on WWF telly.

Years later on WWE's version of ECW, Matt Striker tried the same thing.

The bizarre thing here is that Douglas was a genuine legend in the original land of extreme. By 2006 (a great year if the past two entries are anything to go by), Striker was plundering Dean's old material and using it as part of his unwanted 'Classroom' segments. Neither of these characters had any success, and the first was even an aberration in Douglas' career.

Why in the name of buttoned-up polo shirts did the company think this monstrosity was ripe for recycling? Things wouldn't have been any worse had they looked back to 1995 and decided that Mantaur 2.0 should become ECW's next heel menace.
