10 Times WWE Tried To Convince You Wrestlers Were Related

1. The Undertaker & Kane

Lord knows they've changed The Undertaker's history enough that nobody would notice some meddling with Angle's.

Kane's introduction as 'Taker's chargrilled brother, one who had been burned in fires set by "The Deadman" as a child, felt exciting in 1997. Paul Bearer's shrill declaration that "your brother is alive" led to the creation of a now-cherished character, but the story isn't without hiccups.

First, fans were told that Kane had toiled in a basement and had to undergo hours of painful facial reconstruction surgery after the fire. Then, Kane himself admitted to having a girlfriend (Katie Vick), learning to drive and even socialising as a teenager. So much for the scarred brother story; Kane was out on the p*ss just like everyone else.

When it suits them, WWE revisit this "Brothers Of Destruction" angle. When it doesn't, they ignore it and pretend Kane and The Undertaker operate as separate characters, or alter their shared history to fit ongoing stories.

Originally, the tale had potential. Now, so much water has passed under the bridge that suspending one's disbelief is essential.
