10 Times WWE Tried To Recreate Iconic Duos

Perhaps the most insulting attempt at trying to recreate a duo of times passed was the pairing of Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal.

Teaming Animal with Heidenreich wouldn't have been such a bad idea, as pairing a popular, established star with a newer talented in need of help and guidance is always a good recipe, but WWE opted to turn the duo into the new Legion of Doom having Heidenreich paint his face in the same manner as the legendary tag team, and come out to the ring wearing the iconic spiked shoulder pads as well.

Despite winning the WWE Tag Team Championships, the LOD reboot was hated by both fans and wrestling critics, as Animal and Heidenreich didn't have much chemistry as a tag team, and the latter was in no way, shape or form close to being as talented and well respected as the late Hawk. The two didn't last very long as a team with Heidenreich being released from his contract in January of 2006, thus thankfully bringing an end to the awful incarnation of the LOD which was somehow worse than LOD 2000.
