10 Times WWE Tried To Repeat History With The Undertaker

1. The End Of The Streak (And Maybe The Undertaker)

As 'Taker approached the twilight years of his career, every one of his programs had an 'is this it?' feel about them as we all wondered if he would hang up the hat when each one concluded. And that feeling was never more prominent than it was after WrestleMania XXX.

The end of The Streak was a conflicting moment, but an organic one that left the whole WWE Universe in a state of genuine shock. But the unexpected loss to Brock Lesnar was made that much more real by the fragile and defeated 'Deadman' that remained behind to soak up a standing ovation and the 'Thank You 'Taker' chants. Yes, it really seemed like the end for the legend's career.

His second WrestleMania loss three years later was much more predictable and left a far worse taste in the mouth of fans because it felt like it was intentionally designed to recapture that 'end-of-the-Streak- feeling - which, of course, it couldn't - just so Roman Reigns could benefit from a push that he didn't need.

In all fairness, this aftermath was much more emotional because it actually played out like 'Taker was retiring and had it come after a better match - and, y'know, not been a rehash of everything that happened three years earlier - it would have been an incredible ending to an incredible career.
