10 Times WWE Waited FOREVER To Break Records
4. Shortest Scheduled Main Event Match
From the longest women's matches to the shorted pay-per-view main event.
This entry won't include Money In The Bank cash-ins, it's only for contests announced before the pay-per-view itself. WWE's had too many random matches shoved onto the end of PPVs because of the briefcase that it's silly. Besides, even if they were planned by the Creative Team ahead of time, fans didn't know they were coming so wouldn't have bought the event just to see them.
Anyway, for a long time the award for the shortest main event went to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin Vs. Vince McMahon at St. Valentine's Day Massacre 1999. The last match on the final In Your House show clocked in at 7:55. It's still talked about as the contest that saw Big Show make his WWE debut... and make of fool of himself by throwing Austin out of the cage for the win.
That record stood until 2016, when it was topped by the most unlikely rematch in a long time.
Goldberg made his long awaited return and faced Brock Lesnar in a redo of their WrestleMania XX snoozefest. This time it was a squash. Bill beat Brock in 1:26 to shock the world.
The record was beaten a few months later though; at Fastlane 2017, Goldberg topped his own time and defeated Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship in 22 seconds.
