10 Times WWE Wasted Female Talent
3. Katie Lea Burchill
For reasons known only to himself, Vince McMahon has had a long standing obsession with creating a high profile storyline revolving around incest.
2008 saw the final attempt at such a provocative venture when British wrestlers Paul Burchill and Katarina Walters were repackaged as the sexually suggestive Burchill siblings. Renamed Katie Lee, Walters was an imposing, hard-hitting figure who stood out amongst the more petite women of the division. Unfortunately, she was only given one shot at the Women's Championship before being drafted to ECW.
When WWE became a PG product in July 2008, The Burchill incest angle was quickly terminated, forcing Walters even further down the company pecking order. Paul was released in early 2010, leaving Katie to adopt a new, darker role complete with face paint and a tweaked moveset. Two months later, Katie was released, bringing an end to an underwhelming run.
If you look at Walters's post WWE work (specifically her run as Winter in TNA) you can get an idea of just how much potential WWE wasted. When you combine that character acting with the stellar in ring work seen against the likes of Beth Phoenix in OVW, you can't help but wonder what could have been.
