10 Times WWE Went Further Than The Attitude Era

9. Sensational Sherri Gets Stripped

The early '90s were a more innocent time, and the WWF was a more innocent place.

Except of course for its exploitation of a war's bloody death toll and Vince McMahon advancing the notion that the U.S.A should be appointed as a global leader of law and order with Hulk Hogan sworn in as Chief of Police.

Intervention? Nonintervention? No: a big f*ckin' leg drop is the way to save the day, brother!

The motives behind the Gulf War are geopolitically complex, and as such, Vince McMahon and his love of scatology probably wasn't best positioned to fold it into his programming, particularly since his family audience just wanted to watch far more simple and fictional goodies versus baddies escapism.

The WWF didn't tour the oversexed college campus circuit in 1991. The product back then wasn't promoted for the leering lads of 1998, which renders the finishes of the Ultimate Warrior Vs. Sgt. Slaughter house show run most inexplicable. Warrior wasn't going to win. Slaughter needed to keep his heat ahead of WrestleMania VII. After all, there was so much of it that running a stadium, alas, was too risky. This is why the WWF broadcast the event behind closed doors, and not at a 16,470 capacity arena.

But those fans need to be sent home happy - and, for f*ck's sake, horny. Warrior in these matches shed Sensational Sherri to her bra and panties and suspended her from the top of a steel cage. The objectified and assaulted Sherri was asking for it by playing a heel role in accordance with a script, mind.

Jesus Christ.
