10 Times WWE Went Too Far

1. NOT Stopping Over The Edge 1999

Owen Hart plummetting 70 feet to his death at Over The Edge 1999 should have brought the show to a halt. It didn't.

Though TV viewers were spared the grisly sight, they were informed of what had happened by a heartbroken Jim Ross an hour later later. "I have the unfortunate responsibility to let everyone know that Owen Hart has died," he said. "Owen Hart has tragically died from that accident here tonight."

15 minutes passed before Vince McMahon and his team made the call to keep the pay-per-view going. Poor Val Venis, Nicole Bass, Jeff Jarrett, and Debra emerged for a tag match shortly after the announcement. They, like the rest of their peers, were shell-shocked, but tasked with proceeding regardless. Cold-blooded and classless, it took the ridiculous "show must go on" mentality to a ridiculous new level.

Vince was tasked with making an incredibly difficult decision on the spot and in the moment, with information hitting him from all angles. Ultimately, he made the wrong one. It didn't matter that the pay-per-view was just getting started and refunds would've been issued - a man fell to his death. Nothing else should matter.
