10 Times WWE Went Too Far
5. Kerwin White
WWE have run boatloads of distasteful characters over the years, and it would've been easy to slot Eugene, Virgil, or Cryme Tyme into this slot. But as bad as those gimmicks were, none were as outright weird as Kerwin White, who came to life when Chavo Guerrero decisively renounced his Hispanic heritage after hopping to Raw in the 2005 draft, having been subjected to weeks of abuse at the hands of the equally problematic Mexicools.
A stereotypical middle-class white conservative, Kerwin's hair was dyed blonde, and he rode to the ring on a golf cart. It was a terrible image, but things got considerably worth as soon as he started opening his mouth. White's diatribes against literally any ethnic minority the creative team could think of (including Hispanics) were absurd, and he eventually transitioned into going directly after Shelton Benjamin, whom he feuded with through fall and summer.
His catchphrase? "If it's not White, then it's not right." Hilariously tone-deaf.
It's impossible to tell how long WWE planned on persisting with the gimmick, as they wisely pulled Chavo away from it following his uncle Eddie's passing. Speaking of which...
