10 Times WWE Went Too Far
6. Kane & Lita
The entire Kane & Lita saga was a shambles, and completely destroyed what remained of the goodwill 'The Big Red Machine' had earned on his post-unmasking psychotic break, thanks, primarily, to two particularly vulgar storytelling moments.
The idea of a Kane/Lita romance angle is daft, but not inherently problematic. A pregnancy as the result of coerced sex, however, is. Though it wasn't an explicit rape angle, Kane claimed that he'd impregnated her to "carry on his legacy." Lita, meanwhile, explained that she'd slept with the monster to keep him from going after her then-boyfriend Matt Hardy again.
Such angles rarely end well in this company (see: Mae Young and the hand), and this one concluded on a miscarriage. Kane accidentally tumbled on his betrothed when newcomer Snitsky hit him with a steel chair. Lita lost the child, and the two monsters started feuding, with Kane seeking revenge for his new foe effectively causing the death of his unborn son or daughter.
Snitsky's "It wasn't my fault!" proclamation turned him into a meme, which is about the only positive thing we can see of this turgid piece of sh*t.
