10 Times WWE Wrestlers Botched Their Own Finishers
7. Batista On Booker T
After Batista was forced to relinquish his World Heavyweight Championship due to tearing his triceps, he returned from injury hyped up and ready to reclaim the championship he vacated, currently held by King Booker.
At SummerSlam 2006, they had a short but passable title match. Though it began slow and methodical, it picked up and the two clicked as the match advanced. The rivals put on better displays as the feud grew. The advertisement for the summer pay-per-view is more infamous than the match, or its botch, as Booker and Batista had a real-life fight while shooting it. It’s the consensus that Booker came out the winner. During the match JBL on commentary references the photoshoot while Batista and Booker’s mutual hatred is discussed.
The official match was fumble free, with Batista winning by disqualification after Queen Sharmell interfered on her King’s behalf. However, she only momentarily saved him from a Batista Bomb. Batista continued the attack and readied Booker up for his finisher. It seemed he had difficulty pulling Booker into a powerbomb position, doing so with noticeable straining. He only managed to pulled Booker up to the height of his chest before slamming him down.
