10 Times WWE Wrestlers Portrayed Other Wrestlers

2. Pete Dunne And Tyler Bate As Each Other

Ahead of Attack Pro Wrestling’s Press Start 5 summer show, The Anti-Fun Police stole a Nintendo GameCube used to power the show and destroyed it. This caused a computer glitch affecting the staff, wrestlers and booking. One wrestler got stuck walking in place against the ring post for minutes on end like a broken video game NPC. Nobody tell Jim Cornette.

The show also featured a Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate match with the pair raiding each other’s wardrobes and taking on their rival’s persona and move set. Another result of the glitch.

The whole match is played for broad laughs like Bate’s moustache ripping antics and terrible knee “tattoo”. There are plenty of small moments to enjoy. Like Dunne looking especially pleased with himself and suppressing a smirk as he emerges, waving, through the curtain. Another highlight is Dunne admitting, “I should know my way out of this,” trapped in one of his own holds. For all the laughs, when Dunne for once finds himself on the receiving end of some small joint manipulation it looks as painful as ever.

The match ends when the glitch causes the referee to freeze, unable to count the pin. If you’re thinking, “sure, this sort of thing will fly in the indies but I bet they knocked it on the head when Vince McMahon came calling,” you should know this match took place days after the pair’s acclaimed battle at TakeOver: Chicago.
