10 Times WWE Wrestlers Shot On The Fans
Some WWE wrestlers put fans in their place and never have to raise a fist to do so.
Professional wrestlers have a strange dynamic when it comes to their relationships with the fans. While generally fans will simply cheer for those that they love and boo for those that they hate (aside from the Raw after Wrestlemania, as the commentary team constantly reminds us), there are some who feel that their fandom gives them the right to attack, berate, insult or otherwise take personal shots at the wrestlers themselves, not their characters.
In decades past, this would occasionally result in a fan getting punched in the face at ringside or being "escorted" backstage for a chat with a group of wrestlers. Now, however, social media and podcasts allow wrestlers to directly respond to fans who question them, call them out, or insult them, in real-time and for millions to hear, read, and consume.
Some of the wrestlers on this list are masters at this back and forth, creating compelling responses to fans, while others are more of the "Go f*** yourself" school of replies. Either style can be startlingly effective when seen in action, as evidenced by this list of performers who couldn't help but let loose on the audience...
10. Lana Shuts Up Her In-Ring Critics
Lana is an odd character. She has bounced back and forth between heel and face, never really getting a consistent push without Rusev and often ending up in storylines that revolve around her status as someone's girlfriend or wife. As a result, she is often critiqued online.
She is not afraid to fire back.
Lana has taken to Twitter many times, calling fans "cowards that hide behind your iPhone", saying that "crushing haters" brings her peace, and that she doesn't need fan support.
In one memorable exchange, someone tweeted at her: "if you can't wrestle, then dance." Lana's reply was curt and definitive: "don't you worry. My black belts in judo, jiu-jitsu and muay thai will make sure that I crush every female superstar on the roster."
Another time, a fan on Instagram asked: "Lana, do you find it awkward how many people only like you because they think you’re hot rather than enjoy your character?"
Her reply was pretty epic: “Awkward, no, I find it exceptionally awesome what I do...I am not here to be adored, I am here to help create compelling stories. I don’t have to fight and wrestle everyday, because I am that good at what I do."
