Goldberg Vs. the Undertaker, at Super ShowDown 2019, was a disaster.
Held several years too late, it should have been stopped mid-match. It was clear to everybody, except those who actually held the power to do anything about it, that Goldberg had suffered or exacerbated a concussion when flying into the ring post after a missed spear spot. Goldberg himself tweeted that he knocked himself out but thought he could finish when apologising to the fans for letting them down. This was reckless. It was not up to Goldberg to clear himself. He isn’t a doctor, which is a rather important point, and he was hardly capable of making smart decisions in that moment.
After that terrifying sequence, Goldberg Vs. ‘Taker evolved into an accidental King’s Road match. Goldberg inadvertently debuted a ‘90s All Japan super-finisher when, wobbly on his feet, his attempt at a Jackhammer insead turned into a brainbuster upon landing. ‘Taker was incredibly fortunate to emerge from the match unscathed; his facial expression at the closing bell was one of disgust and barely suppressed disgust. Goldberg collapsed en route to the gorilla position.
Goldberg also revealed that he head-butted his dressing room door before making his entrance.
If he comes back and insists on doing this idiotic, reckless and selfish pre-match ritual, he should be made to do a concussion test before entering the ring.
